Registration of New Born Baby in UAE (Birth Cert, Passport, Emirates ID & Visa Requirements)

New babyis aextremely a rewarding experience, the baby might not have arrived yet, but it is important to be aware of the updated UAE Laws, rights and other available services  for pregnant women in United Arab Emirates. 

To be honest once baby has arrived the both parents will be busy in their own “Baby World”. So, be prepare for the big days by following below guide that will help you to get familiar with required documents all over UAE.
Choosing a Hospital:
When it comes to choosing a hospital for delivery, a Pregnant women have many things to think. If you are searching for a hospital during pregnancy check health insurance coverage, quality of care, and other general services by Hospitals.
Your new baby can be born in either a Government or a Private hospital and your new baby’s nationality will be the same as the baby’s father.

1.File Before Birth (Birth Notification File):
To ensure a smooth and save access to maternity services, we will advise to open the file in hospital before the45 calendar days of  delivery.
As soon as pregnancy confirmed, you must open a file for the expectant mother at hospital.

2. Birth Certificate:
After a successful delivery parents now required to apply for a birth certificate within 30 days of the baby’s birth.

Birth Certificate for Government Hospitals:
If your delivery done at  Government Hospitals, your Birth certificate will be issue to you at same hospital as issuance of Birth Certificate is an automatic process at government hospitals.

Birth Certificate for Private Hospitals:
If your baby born in a private hospital, you have to apply for a birth certificate through the State Health Authority after submitting required documents and paying the fees that worth 150 AED.

Requirements:
1. Birth notification (Hospital File).
2. Original Passports of both Parents (copy will required).
3. Valid Residency Visa.
4. Original Emirates ID cards of both parents (copy will required).
5. Attested Marriage Certificate.

3. Baby Passport:
Once you have collected a birth certificate, you must immediately visit your home country embassy in UAE to apply a passport for the new born baby. Below are the required documents to apply for a new passport but we will highly advised you to contact your respective embassy for the updated requirements, as procedures may differ if the both spouse are from different countries.

Requirements:
1. Copy of Birth certificate.
2. Original Passports of both parents.
3. White background Photos of the new born.
4. Emirates ID of both Parents.

Note: Eyes should be open in baby photo with clear face, otherwise passport application will be rejected by Embassy.
 
4. Baby Emirates ID Card:
After collecting a passport for your new born, you will require to register the baby at the Emirates Identity Authority by visiting any of its branches all over UAE.

Requirements:
1. Original Birth Certificate.
2. Original Emirates ID card of Mother or Father (1 Parent).
3. Original Passport of Mother or Father (1 Parent).
4. Original Passport of the new born baby.

Below steps to be taken once you have arranged above Required Documents:

1. Submit above required documents at any authorized typing center in UAE.
2. Pay the typing and registration fees at same typing center.
3. Await an SMS stating the date and place of registration.
4. Visit the same service Centre as written in the SMS.
5. Submit the typing Centre receipt with a valid passport to complete registration.
6. Wait for an SMS from the Emirates Identity Authority for collection of your New ID.
7. Collect the Emirates ID from the branch mentioned in SMS and be ready for the final step.

5. Baby Residence Visa:
Once you have finished above 4 Steps, now its time to take final step to complete the authorized and legalregistration of your new born baby and that is a Residence Visa. Please note that you have allowed to complete a residency process for your kid within 120 Days, if you are unable to complete the process within 120 Days, you will be fine 25 AED per day and you can not leave or send baby out from UAE until pay all fines.
Follow below steps to apply a residence Visa at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

Requirements:
1. Original Passport of the new born.
2. Original Passports of both parents.
3. Original Emirates ID card of the new born.
4. White Background Photos of the new born (4 No's).
5. Copy of Attested Marriage certificate, should be translated into Arabic.
5. Salary certificate for Government, Semi-Government or Free Zone Employees.
6. Employment Contract for private sector employees (L.L.C).
7. Original Tenancy contract attested from the municipality.
8. Copy of Last paid Electricity bill under the parent’s name.

Take below steps, once arranged above documents:

1. Fill and Submit above required documents at any authorized typing center in UAE.
2. Pay the typing and registration fees at same typing center
.
3. Submit the Typing Centre Receipt and required documents to the Residency Department.

Q: What is the Fees or Charges for Residency Visa at Typing Center?
Charges Details are:
Issuance Fee: 300 AED
Application Fee: 100 AED
Delivery Fee: 20 AED
Service Fee: 10 AED
Total Fee: 430 AED 

Q:Payment Method at Typing Centers?
Payments are only accepted in cash or by credit cards. Personal cheques, Money Transfer receipt will not be accepted.

Q: What if one parent is not in the Country?
In most embassies, only an immediate family member or relatives up to the fourth degree of the new born baby will be allowed to apply for a passport while Emirates ID step can be done by any family member of the baby,provided he or she submits the original Emirates ID of one of the parents along with required documents.

Q: What if someone is Pregnant but Not Married?
It is of up-most importance for a woman to be married if she is pregnant in any state of UAEBefore the first check-up at hospital, you will require to show an original and attested marriage certificate along with copies of your passport, visa and Emirates ID. In case if you are not married but pregnant, you should get married as soon as possible or unmarried expectant woman should return to their home lands for the delivery.
